Model Marine
Steam Boilers –
Martin Baylis
Engineering
Model Marine Steam Boilers produced by Martin Baylis Engineering, with a range to suit enthusiastic modellers. The Steam Boilers are supplied complete, including all expected boiler furniture, funnel and are clad with ceramic insulation and either wood or metal cladding complete with brass boiler bands. Every effort has been made to simulate boilers of the age in as much detail as possible.

Kingdon Vertical Boiler
Martin Baylis Engineering Vertical Model Marine Steam Boiler based on the Simpson Strickland Kingdon Boiler. As many features as possible have been retained from the prototype. These include a dummy fire door, bottle siphon pressure gauge, copper dome at the base of the funnel, brass feature to the top of the funnel, wood cladding and brass boiler bands.
The model steam boiler is complete with super heater (steam drier), steam valve, pressure gauge and siphon, safety relief valve, water gauge and burner.
A novel feature is that the exhaust passes through the boiler casing and into the top of the vertical fire tube thus avoiding the need for unsightly pipe work on top of the boiler. A number of spare bushes are provided in the event the modeller would like to fit accessories, whistle, check valve and by-pass, gas attenuator etc.

Marine Vertical Boiler
The unit is a marine vertical flue boiler with cross tubes and internal horizontal tube. The boiler is of all copper construction with the exception of the brass mounting plate at the base, all bushes and ferules are of bronze. It is designed for gas firing by butane/propane mix.
The boiler is supplied already clad in ceramic fibre insulation and planked in walnut wood and fitted with brass boiler bands.

A VIEW FROM ABOVE
The exhaust extension can be seen preventing exhaust from the engine drawing the flame off the burner. In addition, the pressure gauge, filler, spare bush and safety valve are visible in clockwise order. Other decorative features are also on show such as the copper dome with brass surround.
The filler, spare bush and safety valve are visible in clockwise order along with the steam valve to the side. Other decorative features are also on show such as the copper dome with brass surround and brass trim to top of funnel. The ceramic burner can also be seen.
